The idea is to reverse engineer Elite (the classic Bell & Braben space sim) and re-write it in portable C. I''m about 90% of the way there now and a fully playable Beta is available as well as all source code. This is not just another remake, it is the original Elite code. It is not Public Domain but most versions of Elite (including the original 6502 source) can be downloaded from Ian Bell''s website.
Ian even has a link to my website from his so he''s not likely to sue me. David Braben seems more concerned with Frontier than with Elite (which is after all 15 years old).
Besides, the code I am working from was copyrighted to Acornsoft and I can''t really see them being very bothered (that''s if they still even exist).
