DSound3D and DirectMusic?

I'm getting ready to descend into DS3D Hell, and I was wondering: has anyone noticed any strange problems, etc. in getting DS3D and DirectMusic to play together? I hope I'm not a pioneer here, I hate getting arrows in my back and ending up face-down in the dust...
