*UPDATED 1/24/12*

*Dear gamedev community,

I have been getting a lot of the same questions in e-mail and I wish to address them here. The amount of applications and requests are piling up fast and the last thing I want to do is provide an inadequate description of the potential team we are building and objective we are achieving.

First and foremost, we are VERY selective of our candidates. We believe that the quality of people working on this project is more valuable than the skill level of most applicants. We are looking for candidates who are highly motivated, are extroverts with passion in games, excellent self starters and people who can fit into our "professional but not too serious". In all, we want someone who loves to talk, is smart, and gets the job done.

Second, we want candidates that are able to inspire others with their level of passion. The team understands that this isn't just another job or project, but rather something they love so much that they can't stop thinking about it. We are looking for this passion in our candidates.

Finally, I have made some revisions in regards to our post here. This should give everyone a better idea of what to look for and if it would be a good fit for you. We are hard workers and we keep a very high level of professionalism while keeping a casual environment.

Thanks again for your continued interest in our team, and I look forward to meeting you!

Jeff

Brief description:

We are professionals that don't take ourselves too seriously. We are looking for laid back candidates that work hard, extroverts who enjoy conversation, and people who are actively looking to self improve.

RECRUITMENT

We are looking for talented individuals who are trying to break into the gaming industry in all aspects of gaming. These individuals should be highly motivated with a extreme passion for video games with extensive experience in all game genres and a great attitude for communicating with prospective players.

This is not a formal company. This is a unique group of talented individuals (at first). Game development will be community/audience driven where some details of the game will be shared with the audience for input and criticism via a blog. This new style of community driven game development is not only a chance to try out something completely new, but it also expands and widens the creativity boundaries of a given project and gives a great sense of involvement from the community - it is something that they are truly a part of. This doesn't mean developers will take every idea, but rather what they feel would best fit the objective of the project.

As of now, there is no monetary compensation. Upon completion of the project, sales of our product will determine how much you make. However, the experience you will gain from this project is immeasurable. If you are truly passionate and looking for a serious opportunity to work on a great and new game project that you could put on your resume for experience and even make some money, this is it for you. For all we know, this could be the next best company to date.

If this sounds like something you would like to be a part of, whether as a community member or a developer, please don't hesitate to come check out my blog! Recruitment details are on posted on there. The project officially starts Jan 30, so don't wait too long!

CULTURE

Most of our collaboration will be done online. We don't have a formal office, but we understand communication is the most important aspect of any software development. We are looking for people who are professional but don't take themselves too seriously. We want people that have room for personal and professional growth. Most of all, we are looking for people with a great positive energy and self-starters that aren't afraid to speak up.

Here, we PROMOTE criticism. We understand that criticism is our key to success. We don't say "we can't do that", but rather "how can we do that". Ultimately, we do it in a positive and constructive environment where we can help each other achieve our final goals - developing a product that our audience is a part of and loves.

Target aim:

We are looking for intelligent and hard working team of members to create something new and amazing to the market. The key is the QUALITY OF THE PRODUCT. We will ensure that the game is of its greatest quality before releasing. I can't stress how many games out there come out immature. This is a work of our passion, not for simple monetary gain. It could be the next big development company. The thing is, we are a highly motivated group of people ready to take on the responsibilities of real world game development. We are looking for the right people to be a part of our culture and to help us succeed in fulfilling our mission: to make amazing games in our new style of community involvement.

Compensation:
Will be provided upon completion of the project, based on sales.

    Previous Work by Team:
None that are related to games in particular. All 1 semester away from graduating with a Computer Science degree and very passionate about games.

    Additional Info:

    • The game I am making is a community driven and centered game. I hold a strong belief that the input of the players is the most important input you could get - this is because they are the ones playing it. It also expands and widens the creativity boundaries of a given project and gives a great sense of involvement from the community - it is something that they are truly a part of. This doesn't mean I will take every idea, but I will take what I feel would best fit the objective of the project.
    • You, being part of the audience and community, can be a part of this long journey from the beginning - from story development, rule creation, and creative development - or the end - simply playing the game and providing feedback, or anywhere in the middle. It is completely up to you, the audience to decide if you would like to be involved in the game development process, by simply providing feedback or entering debates. Each step in the game creation process will be blogged, keeping you up to date with the latest ideas and direction the game is taking.
    • It is a great way to scout talent and recruit people to join the team. Obviously this game is not funded by any company, nor does it have multiple people claiming responsibilities (seriously..I'm using a blog).
    • I'll be honest - I don't know the most when it comes to making a game, simply because I've never done it before. However, I will be taking the necessary steps, doing research, connecting creativity and unleashing some strokes of brilliance in able to create an amazing game. I am confident in my ability to do so! I have a vision, and I'm extremely motivated to see it through!

Project planning starts on Jan 30th 2012.

rogerdodger, can you put put in an application via email? its just about 10 questions found on the website. someone with great experience would help out. thanks for your interest :)
I am confused. Have you planned what kind of game you want to do yet?
Whats the task for software engineer / programmer? Isn´t that nearly the same?
We put the option of an exclusive programmer in case a less qualified person wanted to contribute (that didn't have formal training in software development concepts). Technically, it is simply entry level.

The game planning will be done by the 30th. A formal document will be issues to the blog.

Also, we are excited to see so many people apply for positions within the Ghost Gaming Academy team. We are continuing our search for top talent and we are eager to construct a very strong member base to contribute to our cause.

I updated the positions for the site and added urgent need to select positions that we really need to help build our core infrastructure.

Just remember - we are professionals that don't take ourselves too seriously. We are looking for laid back candidates that work hard, extroverts who enjoy conversation, and people who are actively looking to self improve.

Thanks for your time once again,

Ghost Gaming Academy Team

Bumped for updates, 1/24/12
Just sent my application. I hope you guys can find a use for me. ;)
Bump. We are getting a very large volume of applicants. However, we are looking for people with the perfect fit. This is a very serious group of players that are passionate and dedicated to their dream of game development. We are searching for top talent, cultural fit, highly motivated people, and natural leaders. We already have a very strong powerhouse forming and we would like more people to fill the ranks.

Currently, we are critically seeking a potential lead programmer / software engineer to join. Please don't hesitate to apply, we are a very open group of people who just love video games. We want the same thing from you.
Bump.
