How does one assemble a team of Devs without Paypal?

Hello. I have a desire to make video games. Unfortunately, I am barely not old enough for my mother to trust me with giving money to strangers. Is there anyway I won't have to worry about this or will I have to wait until I'm an adult and old enough to use my own money?

Honestly - try assembling a team for challenges here (you can also do it solo, if you enjoy lone wolf approach), or for another game competitions. Why?

The competitions tend to have a time limit, from 48/72 hours like Ludum Dare (https://ldjam.com/) to few months like GameDev.net challenges (https://www.gamedev.net/challenges/) and there are many, many others - often also listed on Itch.io (https://itch.io/jams).

You can try assembling team for them (here or even on itch), I'm quite sure that for next GameDev.net challenge you would find some buddies to make a game with you.

Advantages:

  • You will make a game (assuming you finish)
  • You may work in team (assuming you are a team player and can do something)
  • You will gain experience

Disadvantages:

  • You won't make anything financially
  • You won't make AAA game (although… is that really a problem?)
  • You won't make a big game in sense of titles you most likely see and play (again … is that really a problem?)

Note: Making in “big game” is not entirely true, as there are individuals and groups who extended their competition game into full featured game - one example I remember is title Superhot.

just make game alone dude. you lack experience clearly
